Guide to Torrents

Ok, so a few friends of mine have been asking me lately, "How do I use torrents, and what are they?" I figured, "Why not just go blog about it for everyone to read?" So here I am.

To start, Torrents are like a p2p(peer to peer) network. Basically it is people uploading a file or multiple files, such as software, music, videos, text documents, etc. That you can go and download for free. Note: Torrents can be consider pirating and illegal in some cases.

So now you know what they are, its time to get down to how to do it.
1. Download a torrent program such as BitTorrent. Personally I prefer Azureus BitTyrant.
2. Install the program onto your computer
3. Go to a site with torrents
4. Find what you want to download. For instance an album from a band.
5. There should be some download link around the site.
6. Click it and if your torrent program doesn't automatically open it find it in your programs to open it with.
7. Just wait for it to download and you're done.

Now its not just as easy as all that. When you're looking for what to download you want to look at how many seeds and how many leechers there are. The more seeds the better.
Leechers = The people who are downloading the file at the moment
Seeders = People who have already downloaded and are uploading the content for other people to download.
Another thing is that it is completely optional on whether or not you would like to seed but it really helps out the torrent community.

Well that's all there is too it. Happy Torrenting.

Guitar Hero 5

As many of you gamers out there know, Guitar Hero 5 has just recently been released as the next game in the series. To be honest originally I wasn't going to buy this because I thought the set list was pretty terrible. However I recently saw an ad online, it said "Buy Guitar Hero 5 and you get Guitar hero:Van Halen for free."

So my next thought was, "Just another fake ad." Later on though I started hearing people talk about it so I finally decided to check it out and yeah it was true. So I hurried up, ran out to Gamestop and grabbed a copy of the stand alone game because I'm poor and can't afford the bundle.

Next, I'm finally home, opening up the game case and poppin in my copy of Guitar Hero 5. So then you may ask, "What about Guitar Hero: Van Halen?" Inside the case they provide you with a sticker and you have to go online and go to http://hub.guitarhero.com/vanhalengameoffer/index.php Fill out that form and print off a conformation and mail it in with a copy of your receipt to one of the addresses provided.

Just thought I'd share that with you all.
